Fancy Boys Theatre Company Presents -- "Thank God. Thanks, Dad!!"
Dads are crazy. Gods are dramatic. Fancy Boys Theatre Company presents an evening of crazy new dramas about gods and dads.
Performances are August 23-25 at the Black Box Theatre (Sir James Dunn Hall) at St. Thomas University at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults.
"THANK GOD. THANKS, DAD!!" is a trifecta of short scripts built around questions of Christian and family ethics:
Bound to an electric chair, Marcus delivers a sermon about his upbringing on an isolated farm in Virginia, the importance of proper manners, lawn mower mechanics, and the time he received specific instructions from Jesus that would forever alter his family lineage.
Jesus is back, again, and he ain't happy. He died for our sins. What have we done for him lately? It's Judgement Day, and Big J himself thinks we're all going to fail his Dad's final examination. Can you pass? Come to the Black Box Theatre to find out.
"DONNY'S SECOND BOOK"
Donny and Everett's father just passed away, leaving half of the family home to each brother. One wants to keep it, the other desperately needs to sell it. They haven't spoken in years, and both harbor a few too many family secrets to come to terms.
The plays are written and performed by National Theatre School of Canada students Step Taylor and Jesse Guest, with Chris Saad as Technical Director and Ben Wheelwright as Stage Manager.
