Join Samaqani Cocahq, a multidisciplinary artist from Tobique First Nation who is currently based in Fredericton, as she shares insights into her personal creative process that she calls, The Spiral Effect.

After graduating from NBCCD and mentoring with Sagatay (Gwen Bear) she began a robust visual arts career, where Samaqani developed a way of painting she called ‘dancing the four directions’ which gave her the courage to share the stories she saw in the land, water and skies. Her work has since evolved beyond the canvas and incorporates storytelling, dance and song together in a powerful form. Her work strives to share the stories of her people and to build a path back to Indigenous ways of being.

All are welcome.
