Please note:

  • Social Studies recognition must include course work in History and Geography. This may be obtained in the education program if offered.
  • Course work in each of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics is required for a Major or Minor in General Sciences.
  • Course work in each of Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy, and Sociology is required for a Minor in Social Sciences.
  • If you have a major in Spanish or German, you must offer 18 credit hours in a second teachable from List A or List B
  • In the case of applications to the Elementary stream, students will take course work in Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health, Music, and Art, resulting in an Elementary major.
  • Some degree programs such as Kinesiology, Nurse Sciences, and Engineering for example have courses that may qualify as public school
    teaching areas. For an assessment of these courses please contact the Certification Branch at the New Brunswick Department of
    Education.

Applicants must have either 30 credit hours from List A, 24 credit hours from List A and 18 credit hours from List B, or 24 Credit hours from each of two different List A subject areas.
