Tenure-Track Position in Musical Theatre Voice

The Fine Arts Programme, St. Thomas University, invites applications for an entry-level, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Musical Theatre Voice, to begin July 1, 2013, pending budgetary approval.
St. Thomas University is an undergraduate, liberal arts institution whose roots are in the faith and tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. With a full-time enrolment of 2,500, its students graduate with Bachelor of Arts, Applied Arts, Education, and Social Work degrees. The faculty members are distinguished teachers, researchers, artists, and scholars, and the university holds four Canada Research Chairs.
Building on its existing drama and music curricula, St. Thomas University is expanding its Fine Arts Programme to include musical theatre. The position requires an outstanding singer and pedagogue with excellent collaborative piano skills, capable of teaching courses in voice and musical theatre as well as additional courses in the music program. Candidates for this position will be c¬harismatic, dynamic, versatile individuals with academic (Master’s degree in a relevant field at a minimum), teaching, and professional performance credentials as well as an active research and/or creative profile. The successful candidate will perform the normal academic activities in the Fine Arts Programme and assist in articulating the connections between the fine arts and the broader liberal arts community.
Applicants are to submit a cover letter; CV; copies of academic transcripts; evidence of artistic achievement; a teaching portfolio (comprising a statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, course evaluations, and sample pedagogical materials); a statement addressing the candidate's scholarly/performing agenda; a 10-minute video recording (in a data CD or a mastered DVD) of recent productions; and one sample of scholarly work.
