02/03/13	UDEM	L2-6 More Raphael Pouliot buried a shot from the slot to give Moncton an insurance goal with 2:47 to go in the third and sink the Tommies in the 19th annual Lou Chabot Game. Graduating Tommie Alex Labonte did what he could to help the Tommies end their home schedule on a high note. He opened the scoring 27 seconds surprising the Moncton goalie and sliding it through his legs. UdeM responded just past a minute into the second on a goal by Alex Emond. Keven Charland gave Moncton their first lead five minutes later and took that into the dressing room at the second intermission. Three minutes into the third, Labonte potted another to tie it back up as he came out in front and beat the goalie five-hole. Samuel Groulx scored the go-ahead goal midway through the frame before the onslot of three goals (one into the empty net) in 2 minutes and 47 seconds. A nice moment before the game as former captain Matt Eagles came out to take the opening draw and won it and quickly came off. Eagles was forced to retire last season due to injuries and graduates from St. Thomas this year. STU also said goodbye to graduating players Alex Labonte and Chris Morehouse before the game. Close
02/01/13	UNB	L1-5 More Four third period goals pushed the Varsity Reds past the Tommies in the final instalment of the battle of the hill this season. Despite strong defensive play by the Tommies throughout the first two periods, UNB found a way through starting with a shot by Nesbitt off the wing just under two minutes into the third. That made it 2-0 and it was pretty much all V-Reds from then on. The Tommies had a brief 5-on-3 power play later in the third but it only resulted in a fourth goal by the V-Reds on a 3-on-2 shorthanded rush. Felix Poulin broke the shutout inside a minute to go with a backhander he roofed from below the faceoff circle. The Tommies were out shot 35-10 in the game with Jon Groenheyde taking the loss, but not without some spectacular saves. STU takes to the ice for their final game Sunday against UdeM in the 19th Annual Lou Chabot Game. Close
01/26/13	@ACA	L2-5 More Jon Groenheyde was shelled as he faced a season-high 70 shots against the no 6 ranked Axemen on Saturday night. The Tommies made it close after giving up three in the first on goals by Cazzola, Beaton, and Thompson. Jon Bonneau got the Tommies on the board when he buried a rebound early in the second. Alex Labonte scored five-hole from the slot 11 minutes later as the 3-2 total carried until 12:37 of the third when Cazzola struck again to make it 4-2 on the 64th shot. Cazzola would add an empty-netter for the hat trick. The Tommies directed 19 shots at DiSalvo on the the night. STU returns home for the final Battle of the Hill on Friday and face UdeM in the Lou Chabot Memorial Game on Sunday afternoon to round out the season's home schedule. Close
01/25/13	@DAL	L2-5 More The teams traded power play goals through the midway section of the first period (Sebastien Bernier), but it was all Dalhousie from there on. They potted four straight goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead heading into the third. Steve Sanza added one more for the Tommies as they fell to the Tigers on Friday night in Halifax. Jon Groenheyde faced 33 shots in the Tommies' goal, while Bobby Nadeau stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced. The Tigers got their redemption after STU took them down at home two weeks ago. St. Thomas heads for Wolfville, NS to take on Acadia (third in AUS standings) on Saturday night at 7PM. Close

Coaches and Staff

	Troy Ryan
	Head Coach
	Troy enters his second season with the Tommies and brings great experience, technical knowledge and commitment to building a winning program. He has been the president, general manager and head coach of the Metro Marauders of the Maritime Hockey League where he was responsible for daily operations of the team and all aspects of coaching. Prior to leading the Marauders, he held the same position with the Pictou County Weeks Crushers and the Antigonish Bulldogs, and he was assistant coach of the Acadia Axemen of the Atlantic University Sport. He also participated in seven consecutive world championship events (five world junior A and two world under-17). He was most recently general manager of Team Canada East for the World Junior A Championship.

	Matt Eagles
	Video Coach
	Matt is a former captain of the Tommies who played three seasons before he made the tough decision to end his career because of injuries. He brings great knowledge of the university game to his role analyzing video and he’s a great asset to have on staff with the team. The team will certainly miss him on the ice but knows he’ll make an impact off it.

	Patrick Carmichael
	Head Trainer - Athletics Department
	Patrick holds a diploma (2200 hr) in Massage Therapy with a specialization in sports therapy from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. Patrick is a registered massage therapist, and is a member in good standing with the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists. Along with sports therapy, Patrick also practices a wide range of modalities including, TENS, IFC, Ultrasound, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Active Myofascial Release, Perinatal Massage, and Athletic Taping. Patrick plans to someday further his education with a diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice from the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Currently working as the Head Trainer of Varsity Athletics at St. Thomas University and full-time with STU Men’s Hockey, Men’s Rugby, and Women’s Rugby as a trainer/massage therapist.

	Tim Smith
	Assistant Coach
	Tim joins the Tommies this season after coaching the Fredericton High School Black Cats. His strengths as a coach fit the needs of his players with his technical strengths as well as the intangibles so important to winning programs. Tim is excited with opportunity to work at a higher competitive level of hockey and is looking forward to his first season. Originally from Fredericton, Tim has experience coaching at the Junior A level as well.
