Volunteer Position: After-school program admin assistant

Volunteer Description:  Administrative support, material, and classroom prep: to help with tracking payments, writing deposits, helping get files/labels organized.

Time Commitment: Ideally have someone come in once a week between the hours of 10am & 2pm (if someone is available in that time frame before the children arrive) for as much time as they can commit. Might find out after a few weeks/ once system is established that only needed biweekly after that point.

If it turns out a volunteer can help with office/admin support only in evenings our program coordinator could arrange their schedule to be available to get them set up after the kids have left.

Nature Trust Volunteer Training Workshop for Boundary Monitoring & Trail Maintenance– Saturday, November 25th
 
Organization: The Nature Trust of New Brunswick

Volunteer Description:  The Nature Trust of New Brunswick is recruiting and training volunteers to take on boundary line monitoring and maintenance and trail maintenance work at various nature preserves throughout the year. Volunteers will learn how to use a map and compass to locate the boundary lines, proper techniques for finding old boundary evidence and updating boundary markings, and trail maintenance procedures. This year, we hope to upgrade and maintain those boundary lines,and as such have developed anew workshop to prepare volunteers for the job. No previous experience necessary but volunteers will need to be prepared to trek through rough terrain and thick brush.

Interpretive Education VolunteerTraining – Monday,November 27th  
 
Volunteer Description: The Nature Trust is looking for volunteersto help lead interpretive education walks with school groups in Fredericton andsurrounding area throughout the year.

There will be a training session at the Ferris Street Forest and Wetland Nature Preserve on Monday,November 27th from 9:30 - 11:30 am for interested volunteers.We will provide techniques on how to lead nature games, various ways of enabling children to interact with the surrounding environment, and information about our nature preserves. No experience necessary but please come prepared for the weather! If you can’t make it to the training but still want to help with one of the opportunities,there are other opportunities to pick up the skills needed.

Fredericton Sexual Assault Centre

Volunteer Description: The 24 hour support line is the central activity of the Fredericton Sexual Assault Centre. FSAC conducts 60+ hours of crisis intervention training, specific towards sexual violence, every spring and fall.Volunteers take between 4-6 shifts on our support line and also accompany those who have been sexually assaulted to the hospital and/or police station when requested.

Time Commitment: Volunteers are actively involved in different aspects of Centre work (i.e. public speaking, advocacy, fundraising, calls, etc.) and are expected to attend the monthly meetings.
