Welcome and thank you for visiting our site! Whether you are a potential 2015 high school graduate, a transfer student searching for something new, or you are looking to begin your university career, I would love to connect with you! In 2011, I graduated from St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics and a minor in Business. I then went on to receive a Certificate of Human Resource Management and I have been working in Admissions and Recruitment for the past three years. Over that time, I have had the pleasure to work with thousands of students from right here in New Brunswick, across Canada, the United States, and internationally.
I had an amazing undergraduate experience at STU, both in the classroom and by getting involved in residence and campus life. I love to help match people’s interests with the wide range of dynamic programs that we offer.
Whether you see me in your community or you’d like to reach out online, I LOVE to chat all things STU!

Hi there! My name is Amy MacKenzie and I’m an Admissions Counsellor at St. Thomas University. I came to St. Thomas from the small town of Pictou, Nova Scotia.
I chose to go to St. Thomas because I wanted small class sizes and a school that specialized in the liberal arts. But when I arrived on campus, it was so much more than that! There was so much to get involved in. I became involved in residence life and volunteering on and off campus. I also joined a local band and wrote for the campus newspaper for all four years. STU and the City of Fredericton have so much to offer students interested in the arts. I graduated in 2012 with a double major in Political Science and Journalism and a minor in English. Studying the world, the people that live in it and current issues through a liberal arts perspective changed my life and offered me incredible opportunities- from making a documentary in Haiti, to working as a daily newspaper reporter and magazine writer.
If you’ve already chosen St. Thomas or you’re just curious about what we offer, I’m here to help with any questions you might have. Visit our campus and see why all of us loved our experiences at STU!

Hi there! I graduated from STU in 2014 with a BA in Journalism and Communications, and a minor in Political Science. I’m originally from Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, USA and had many questions about doing my undergrad in another country. After touring St. Thomas, my hesitations were eliminated and I immediately fell in love with STU and Fredericton. My international experience at STU became the best years of my life. I met my very best friends, and learned so much about the world around me. At STU, the city often becomes your classroom. Fredericton’s vibrant multiculturalism and energetic community makes this riverside college town a perfect place to be a student.
It’s a big decision when choosing which university is the right fit for you, but the welcoming and supportive people at St. Thomas made that transition easy. Students are the number one priority here. It’s shown through admissions, arriving on campus, extra-curricular clubs and events, residence and inside the classroom. The professors are passionate about what they do. They want to teach here for the small and engaging classes that allow us to explore big ideas and challenge the ways of conventional thinking.
My experience at STU was fantastic, and I’m excited to share it with you in your high schools and communities. I worked in international recruitment for three years as a student and loved every minute of it and meeting new students. Please don’t hesitate to contact me! I encourage you to visit campus or set-up a virtual tour to see it for yourself. I can’t wait to chat about the opportunities available to you at St. Thomas.

“Getting a Liberal Arts degree is about getting an education for life.”
Hello prospective students! My name is Elizabeth Murphy and I’m an Admissions Counsellor at St. Thomas University. I am a Saint John (NB) native and I graduated in May with a double major in Political Science and Communications. While I studied at STU, I was heavily involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities. I played women’s soccer, represented students on the University Board of Governors and Senate and held the role of President of the Students’ Union this past year. I have been engaged in many fund-raising initiatives such as: Relay for Life, Trick or Eat and Shinerama. As well, I have always enjoyed being a part of St. Thomas University’s Welcome Week in September. Another highlight of my St. Thomas experience was having the opportunity to study abroad at our sister school in Houston, Texas
I knew I wanted to come to St. Thomas before I graduated high school. I visited campus each year in high school for Drama Fest and fell in love with the beautiful campus. St. Thomas has been like a family to me and that’s not only because of the many relatives who have attended and worked here. To date, two of my three siblings and my mother have degrees from STU, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. The familial and communal culture of St. Thomas did not disappoint.
St. Thomas gave me a university experience parallel to none. Getting a Liberal Arts degree is about getting an education for life and there’s no better place to do it than at St. Thomas.

Hi there! I graduated from STU in 2012 with double honours in English and Great Books. I then went on to complete a Master’s degree in Philosophy. I came to Fredericton as an international student from Lima, Peru, and coming to STU has been one of the best decisions I've ever made.
As an international student, it was important for me to feel comfortable living miles away from home. Both Fredericton and St. Thomas were perfect for this transition. Fredericton is the ideal city because it has the atmosphere of a bigger city with the comfort and safety of a smaller place. St. Thomas has small class sizes and friendly and intelligent faculty and staff while offering a world-class education. There's also so much to do you won't get bored here.
During my time at STU I participated in a variety of extra-curricular activities, from working with the Students' Union to being elected Grad Class President. Whatever your interests are, you will find an opportunity to pursue them within the community.
Before coming to university I knew I wanted to study in a liberal arts school because of the knowledge and skills this education would give me. St. Thomas allowed me to pursue a variety of disciplines taught by passionate and knowledgeable professors while I figured out what I wanted to do.
I am really passionate about this university, and I can't wait to talk to you about the opportunities that await you here. I love talking to new students, so feel free to message me if you have any questions at all.

Hi! I graduated from STU in 2013 with a double major in Communications and Psychology, and minor in Criminology. It may seem like an odd mix, but that is the beauty of a liberal arts education: studying variety of fields is encouraged! STU students are known for their critical thinking and problem solving skills, which are developed throughout the well-rounded education they receive during their time here.
After finishing my bachelor of arts, I moved to Scotland to complete my Master’s in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. The education I received at STU allowed me to feel confident in my post-degree studies, and thoroughly prepared me for a Master’s level program.
During my undergrad, I was heavily involved in athletics. I was a member of the Women’s Rugby team for four years, as well as serving as the President of the Student Athletic Council during my final year. STU’s active campus also allowed me to pursue passions outside of sport, such as volunteering with Best Buddies, Trick or Eat, and Movember.
Choosing a university to fit both your educational and personal goals can be tough, which is why I am here to help in any way that I can. If you have any admissions questions, or just want to discuss what St. Thomas has to offer you, get in touch with me!
