“STU is an excellent place to achieve your dreams.”
Hi, I'm Alex Vietinghoff and I'm so glad to be continuing my life at STU as an Admissions Counsellor.
I graduated from STU with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and French. When I started at STU, I had planned on just attending classes and going home at the end of the day. But STU quickly captured my interest and I got involved in campus life. I found myself elected off-campus representative, a student senator and later the Student Union’s Vice President of Student Life. I also had the great experience of working for the Athletics Department and helping to organize many campus fundraisers.
One of the best things about STU is our tight-knit community -- practically everyone knows each other’s face, (if not their name), and the professors develop real connections with their students. The buildings are so close together that it takes no time to get to where you need to be, this can come in handy if you're running late for class!
I can’t wait to travel to your high school to meet you and listen to your goals. I know that STU is an excellent place to achieve your dreams.

“Joining the STU community is like joining a community of friends.”
Welcome and thank you for visiting our site! My name is Michelle Monahan and I’m excited to be a part of the STU admissions team. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business and I am excited to be back. I’ll be traveling to schools across the country, meeting potential students and sharing my knowledge and experiences of my time at STU.
In my last year of high school, I really didn’t know where or what I wanted to study. After meeting with two recruiters from STU and learning about the courses, the close-knit community and the really great extra-curricular activities, I knew that STU was the right choice for me. Joining the STU community is like joining a community of friends. Everyone is so friendly, and you’ll find there is something for everyone here.
If you have any questions, just email me, call me directly, or arrange to visit our campus in person. After their first visit, everyone says that the campus is beautiful, and I am sure you will agree!

“St. Thomas is an excellent choice!”
My name is Angela Roy, and as a graduate of STU (BA’10) I am extremely excited to get on the road and meet lots of potential STUdents. I spent four years completing a double major in history and political science, and adored all of my time spent at this wonderful university.
Choosing the best post-secondary institution is one of the most important decisions you will make. St. Thomas is an excellent choice! I’m hopeful that you will agree, and that together we can make your transition to university a smooth and enjoyable one.
When I was in grade twelve I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to do it. For me, choosing St. Thomas was one of the best decisions I ever made. STU has helped shape me into the person I am today and provided me with opportunities and experiences I had never thought possible. From its small class sizes, and friendly faculty and staff, to its wonderful extracurricular activities and strong educational opportunities, St. Thomas has something for everyone.
With its small, beautiful campus nestled in the heart of Fredericton, it does not take long to feel like a member of the community. Before long it will feel like your home away from home, and the friends you’ll make will become your surrogate family.
I love meeting new people, and exploring new places, so I’m eager to get on the road and visit your town and school. Please don’t hesitate to approach me (assuming I don’t get the chance to greet you first) and ask any questions.
I look forward to meeting you all, sharing my St. Thomas experience, and discussing together the potential a future at St. Thomas holds for you.

"St. Thomas University changed my life."
Hi, my name is Haoyang Liu. I graduated from St. Thomas University as the Valedictorian of Class 2011. As an international student, I enjoyed all the experiences offered at this university.
I came to STU in 2007. It was the first time I left home – Jining, Shandong, China. Although my future was unpredictable, St. Thomas changed everything for me. Faculty, staff and students took care of me like their own family. They offered selfless help whenever I needed. With all the support that St. Thomas provides, I was also able to succeed in class as well as work places, as I worked for three years within the STU Athletic Department.
St. Thomas always works to provide international students with a friendly, welcoming environment and equal opportunities. St. Thomas University changed my life. It provided me with more than a first-class education; it led me to a brighter future.
As an admissions counsellor, I look forward to sharing all my experiences with future STU students from all around the world.

“Welcome to St. Thomas University!”
My name is Chris George and like many of my colleagues here I fell in love with this campus during my time as a student – I’ve always considered STU my second home.
I’ve started as Director of Aboriginal Education Initiatives and my responsibility is for recruiting First Nation students along with enhancing and creating appropriate support systems and creating new ones. My goal is to help you, my Indigenous brothers and sisters, reach whatever goals you have set for yourself.
St. Thomas has a well established Indigenous presence on campus. The surrounding area is home to many First Nation people and communities. I’ve learned much about my people, not only from the classroom but also from the Wolastoqiyik Nation that welcomes us to their territory. Our neighbours from the Wabanaki Confederacy have always held out a welcoming hand to Indigenous students that attend St. Thomas.
Prior to returning to STU, I was teaching high school in the northern part of our province. I’ve come to understand the struggles that are inherent in the transition from a rural community to a university campus. I made that journey and coming from a tightly knit First Nation community I know it is very common to feel overwhelmed and out of place even in such an amiable setting as St. Thomas. It is my goal to instil that sense of family that I felt during my stay as a student to you the next generation of learners.
I look forward to getting to know you, listen to your story and work with you to make your time here at STU as memorable and rewarding as it has been to me.
