Stage 1 - Admission
Candidates apply for admission to the New Brunswick Community College’s (Miramichi) Diploma in Criminal Justice Programme. Applicants must satisfy regular admission requirements for St. Thomas University Bachelor of Arts and must demonstrate commitment to and aptitude for careers in criminal justice. Candidates for first-stage admission apply by March 31st to:

The completed applications must include:
- a completed NBCC application form
- official transcripts of high school and, if applicable, university and college grades
- a statement of interest in the field of criminal justice including informal and formal experience, and related studies completed
- a $25 application fee
The Bachelor of Applied Arts in Criminal Justice Degree Programme is designed to provide new students with an opportunity to receive a specialized degree in the field of criminal justice. As such, at least 90% of the incoming class (27 seats) will be selected from students entering from high school or as mature students. A maximum of 3 seats will be made available to transfer students.
Stage 2 - Admission
Enrolment in the second stage is also limited to 30 students. To participate in the second- stage admissions competition, candidates must satisfy the following minimum academic requirements:
- successfully complete the diploma in Criminal Justice Programme
- maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.70 (B–) on the designated St. Thomas University courses (i.e. Sociology, Psychology, Deviance, Criminal Justice, Abnormal Psychology, Criminology).
Candidates for admission to the second stage must apply to the St. Thomas University Admissions Office by February 15th of their second year at NBCC.
Please note that successful completion of the first stage of the Bachelor of Applied Arts in Criminal Justice Degree Programme does not guarantee admission to the second stage. Candidates not admitted to the second stage may apply for admission to the Bachelor of Arts Degree Programme (please see Admission Requirements > Bachelor of Arts) and must complete regular graduation requirements for the BA degree.
Candidates will apply to the St. Thomas Admissions Office for admission to the second stage of the Bachelor of Applied Arts in Criminal Justice. Applications for second-stage admission will include:
- completed application form
- official NBCC transcript, an official high school transcript and, if applicable, official transcripts from other post-secondary institutions attended
- $35.00 application fee

Bachelor of Applied Arts in Gerontology
Students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Arts (Gerontology) Degree programme must first register in the Bachelor of Arts Degree programme where they spend their first two years of study taking courses in Gerontology and in the other liberal arts. (Please see Admission Requirements > Bachelor of Arts.) There is no direct entry to the Bachelor of Applied Arts degree programmes from high school.
Applications for the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Gerontology), which is a limited-enrolment programme, are made to the Registrar's Office in the student's second year of study.
In third year, BAA (Gerontology) students attend the New Brunswick Community College (Saint John) where they receive intensive, job-specific training in various areas related to the field of gerontology. In fourth year, students return to St. Thomas to complete their studies in gerontology and other liberal arts courses in order to graduate with the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Gerontology).

Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism
Graduates of the New Brunswick Community College's (Woodstock) two-year Journalism Diploma Programme are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Journalism) Degree Programme.
