Fine Arts Professor William Forrestall
William Forrestall, Professor of Fine Arts, has been appointed a member of the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board for a three-year term.

Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages James Moore says Forrestall has been appointed for his experience as an educator and nationally recognized artist.

Forrestall has pursued a successful artistic career with solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally. He has received numerous awards and fellowships, including the 1994 Brucebo Traveling Fellowship, which allowed for an extended study tour through European art galleries.

Actively involved in his community, Forrestall has been associated with a number of committees and professional organizations, including the Canadian Artists' Representation Maritimes Board of Directors, the Gallery Connexion Board of Directors, and the City of Fredericton Heritage Review Committee. He was elected as a school board member for the District 18 Education Council.

The mandate of the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board is to make determinations regarding the outstanding significance and national importance of cultural assets under the Cultural Property Export and Import Act.

It is also responsible for determining the fair market value of items donated to Canadian organizations such as libraries, archives, and museums. In addition, the Board reviews appeals of applications for cultural property export permits that have been denied.
