Academic Leadership Appointments - Dr. Michael Boudreau (Dean - Humanities), Dr. Kim Fenwick (Dean - Social Sciences) and Dr. Gayle MacDonald (Assistant Vice President - Research)

St. Thomas University President Dawn Russell has announced appointments to the positions of Dean of Humanities, Dean of Social Sciences and Assistant Vice-President (Research).
Dr. Michael Boudreau - Dean of Humanities
Dr. Michael Boudreau has been appointed to a five-year term as Dean of Humanities. Dr. Boudreau came to St. Thomas in 2004 to assume a tenure track position in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. He has a BA (Mount Allison), MA (Queen’s) and PhD (Queen’s). He has served as the Chair of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and as chair of many university committees, including, the Committee on Appointments to the Academic Staff. He has also been a member of the FAUST Negotiating Committee and the Joint Board Senate Committee on the Growth and Future of St. Thomas University. He is the author of numerous scholarly publications including the forth-coming City of Order: Crime and Society in Halifax, 1918-35 (UBC Press).
Dr. Kim Fenwick - Dean of Social Sciences
Dr. Kim Fenwick has been appointed to a five-year term as Dean of Social Sciences. Dr. Fenwick came to St. Thomas in 1995 to assume a tenure track position in the Department of Psychology. She has a BSc (Acadia), MA (UWO) and PhD (UWO). She has served as the Chair of the Department of Psychology and as chair of several university committees, including the Senate Admissions and Academic Standing Committee. She has also been a member of the FAUST Executive and the President’s Advisory Committee on Structure and Climate, and has led the process for the selection of St. Thomas students nominated for the Rhodes Scholarship. In 1996, she was the winner of the University’s Excellence in Teaching Award. She is the author of numerous scholarly publications including her contribution to Witnesses and the Law: Information and Suggestions for Lawyers and Psychologists (Canada Law Book).
Dr. Gayle MacDonald - Assistant Vice-President (Research)
Dr. Gayle MacDonald has been appointed to a five-year term as Assistant Vice-President (Research). Dr. MacDonald came to St. Thomas in 1992 to assume a tenure track position and act as the Director of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She has a BA (Dalhousie), MA (Ottawa) and PhD (UNB). At She has served as a member of the FAUST Executive and on numerous university committees. She has held the position of Assistant Vice-President (Research) and currently is Dean of Research. In 1997 she was the winner of the University’s Merit Award for Scholarship. She is the author of numerous scholarly publications including her co-authored book, Sex Workers of the Maritimes Talk Back (UBC Press).
These appointments take effect July 1st.
