A favourite of the Welcome Week traditions, the Cheer Off is an opportunity for first-year students to show off their newly adopted pride for their respective residences. STU’s newest students will gather together, sporting the colours and screaming the cheers of their new home, all in hopes of claiming the title of the loudest and the proudest house on campus.

Sunday, September 2 at 2 PM -- Rigby Ballroom
Operation Ignition
Hosted by English Language and Literature Professor Andrew Titus, Operation Ignition is an event not to be missed. Incoming students will hear inspirational words from Titus and will participate in activities that will motivate, encourage and ignite their STU spirit.

Comedy Night with Debra Digiovanni and Darryl Purvis
Comedians Debra Digiovanni and Darryl Purvis will be hitting the Kinsella Auditorium stage for a night of laughter. Digiovanni was 2011 Canadian Comedy Award winner for best female comic, her third win in five years. Her comedy is known to have a sharp edge while keeping a playful, happy air.

Tuesday, September 4 at 8:30 PM -- Kinsella Auditorium
STU’s Got Talent

STU's Got Talent is an event where first year students can sign up beforehand to perform in a talent competition. Students will compete in fun and playful competitions for prizes.

Wednesday, September 5 at 9:45 AM -- Lower Courtyard
Academic Transition Day

Academic Transition Day happens the day before classes begin and provides incoming students with the chance to experience a university classroom setting and meet faculty. Students will also hear from academic advisors, student affairs staff and upper-year students.

Wednesday, September 5 at 1:30 PM -- Upper Courtyard
T-Pin Ceremony

The T-Pin Ceremony is STU’s official welcome of new students into the St. Thomas community as the ceremony marks the beginning of students’ university years. Each student receives a T-Pin -- the “T” is the symbol all St. Thomas students identify with strongly, while they are attending STU and long after they graduate.

Thursday, September 6 at 6:00 PM -- Officers Square, Freddy Beach BBQ
Each year the City of Fredericton hosts a welcome back BBQ for the students of St Thomas University, the University of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Community College. Join your fellow classmates in a walk downtown where dignitaries from the city and from each university will be there to welcome you to the City of Fredericton!

Formal Mocktail Party and Casino Games

With casino games set up around Sir James Dunn Hall, students will be able to make a donation to Shinerama in exchange for monopoly money to play the games. At the end of the night, a prize auction will be held, during which students can use the money they won in the games to bid on prizes.

Friday, September 7 at 9 PM -- Lower Courtyard
Battle of the Bands
Held in the lower courtyard, students will have the opportunity to enjoy live music and win awesome prizes including tickets to the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival harvest and gift cards.
