The TCPS 2 Tutorial -
Course on Research Ethics (CORE)
This tutorial provides an applied approach to the guidance provided in TCPS 2. This self-paced course is a media-rich learning experience that features interactive exercises and multi-disciplinary examples. CORE consists of eight modules ranging from Core Principles to REB Review. It is designed primarily for the use of researchers and REB members – though anyone may take this course and print their own certificate of completion.
Take the Tutorial
Before researchers proceed with their research, they must submit a complete application to the REB. Once an application has been approved, the chair of the REB will send a letter of ethics approval and to the researcher(s) who are then free to commence their work. This process applies to funded and unfunded research conducted by faculty, staff, anyone representing St. Thomas University, and those recruiting participants from the St. Thomas University Community.
The process of ethics review for student research is delegated by the STU REB to the student’s home department.
