SENATE RESEARCH COMMITTEE
Major Research Grant
One Major Research Grant (MRG) is awarded to a full-time or part-time faculty member by the Senate Research Committee through open competition to further the research objectives set out by the Senate. The deadline to apply is noon March 15, 2012.
General Research Grant
Several General Research Grants (GRG) are awarded to full-time or part-time faculty by the Senate Research Committee through open competition to further the research objectives set out by the Senate. The deadline to apply is noon March 15, 2012.
Conference Travel Grant
The Conference Travel Fund provides financial assistance through Travel Grants to faculty members including sabbaticants who are actively participating in conferences. Rolling deadline.
Conference Organizer Award
The Conference Organizer Awards are special awards ($500 and $1000) for faculty who will be organizing a conference within the next 12 months, either on or off campus.
Applications are due 4 months in advance of conference start date and/or 2 months in advance of the SSHRC competition deadline.
Research Grant in Lieu of Salary
The Research Grant in Lieu of Salary Program and Non-Leave Grants Program permit, under certain conditions, a researcher to receive a research grant in lieu of salary through a mechanism that includes peer review. Rolling deadline.
Wallace and Margaret McCain Course Release Award
The McCain Course Release Award is awarded annually in the spring of each year and is available to those faculty who meet the criteria set and administered by the VP Academic. The deadline to apply is November 2, 2011.
4A Award
Applicants for SSHRC research grants, whose applications receive 4A status are eligible to apply for seed funding awards from the 4A Research Fund. Applications are due 60 days after receiving 4A status.
Learning and Teaching Development Grants
LTD Grants are awarded to support projects that are designed to improve learning and teaching at St. Thomas University. These grants are administered by the LTD Committee, please contact Dr. James Whitehead (jamesw@stu.ca) for more information.
COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
Professional Development Allowance
Eligible employees can apply for an annual allocation from the Professional Development Allowance (PDA) fund in accordance with the policies and procedures developed by the Vice-President Academic in consultation with the Senate Research Committee. For further details, please see Article 20 of the Collective Agreement between St. Thomas University and the Faculty Association of the University of St. Thomas.
