Bishops and knights, kings, and queens will be taking over St. Thomas University from October 9 to 12 at the 2009 Maritime Open Chess Tournament.
This event in Maritime chess will feature six rounds of play over three days leading to the Maritime Chess Championship.
As part of the competition, National Master and many-time champion of New Brunswick, Bill Bogle , of Quispamsis, will give a simultaneous display of chessat the opening of the tournament on Friday evening, October 9 in Holy Cross House at 6:30 pm.
The tournament analysis room will be equipped with several computers to allow participants to supplement post-mortem analysis with the latest chess software (ie., Rybka 3.0; Fritz 11; Deep Shredder 11) supplied by ChessBase 10 and Chess Assistant 10.
