Food Bank Access

Accessing the Student Food Bank is easy. All you need to do is bring a bag, and head to George Martin Hall. Check out our map to see where we are on campus:

MAP

The St. Thomas University Student Food Bank is located behind the chapel on the second floor of George Martin Hall. To access the service enter the chapel, and make your way into the back room. When you see the bright orange walls you’ll know you’re in the right place.

Currently, our food bank offers a selection of non-perishable goods including canned and dried foods, pastas, sauces, cereals, rice, juice and other snack items. Our volunteers replenish the shelves each week from a larger supply of food items kept in our storage room. Should you require food items that are not on our shelves we ask that you notify us by emailing stufoodbank@gmail.com or visiting Janice Ryan, whose office is located in GMH 203. For those with children or specific dietary needs, we can make arrangements to supply you with grocery cards so that you might purchase the necessary food items. Please ask us about this service by emailing us.

Sometimes, students, staff or faculty may feel embarrassed about using the Food Bank. While we feel that hunger is nothing to be ashamed of, we recognize the need for privacy and do not require those accessing the service to pass on any personal or financial information. There are many reasons why individuals access the STU Food Bank, and they should never have to feel ashamed or fear that they are being judged for using this wonderful service. By creating a service open 24 hours a day, seven days a week we hope that we will enable community members to access the Food Bank at a time that is convenient for them and in a way that maintains their privacy and dignity. If, at any time, you feel that this service fails to protect your privacy, we ask that you alert us so that we may adapt our procedures promptly, with those who access the service in mind.
