Season Summary 2009-10

 


Weekly Results

The Tommies missed the play-offs again this season as they lost their last two games of the season in Nova Scotia. On Friday the 12th the Tommies lost 5-2 to Acadia. Corey Banfield and Devan Praught scored goals for STU while Charles Lavigne took the loss in net making 31 saves.

On Saturday, Feb. 13th against SMU the Tommies lost 7-4. The score was tied 3-3 after two but SMU scored four in the third to get the win. Jordan Scott, Scott Judson, Devan Praught and Kenton Dulle scored for STU while Guillaume Miszczak took the loss in net making 24 saves.

All Tommies would like to thank all the fans and supporters for their support this season. A special thanks to 95.7 the Wolfe and Randy Corey for broadcasting all of our games on the radio.

 

Recruiting Class 2009

Tyler Dietrich: Tyler comes to STU by way of UNB. A former WHL player who finished his career with Everett. Tyler has good size and speed. The Tommies are looking forward to having him in the line-up in 2009-10.

Matt Eagles: Matt played four seasons with the Moncton Wildcats and finished his career as captain and 7th all time in scoring. He is a very hard worker that continues to improve and work on his game. Matt is an intelligent player that will look great in the "green and gold".

Alex Labonte: Alex comes to St. Thomas after four years in the QMJHL. His last two and a half years were spent with Victoriaville. He brings good speed, the ability to score and also plays physical. Alex scored 20 plus goals his last two seasons in the Q and showed continuous improvement throughout his career. St. Thomas will be a much quicker team this season with Alex in the line-up.

Mike Reich: Mike Reich is hard nosed competitor from Craik, Saskatchewan. He spent five years in the WHL and finished his Major Junior career with the Saskatoon Blades. He scored 15 goals in his 18 year old season, his best year offensively. Mike finished last season playing in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades where he scored 1 goal in 4 games played. St. Thomas are excited to have Mike on board and look forward to him making a major contribution to the team's success.

Jordan Scott: Jordan joins the Tommies after a stellar career in the MJAHL which was capped of by leading the league in scoring, being selected first team all-star and league MVP. The team captain for the Yarmouth Mariners, Jordan was also part of the Mariners' League Championship team from 2007-08. He gives the Tommies offensive depth up front and is really looking forward to proving himself in the AUS.

Charles Lavigne: Charles Lavigne is a goaltender from St. Bernadin, Ont. He spent the last two seasons playing in the QMJHL. This past season he played for Patrick Roy's Quebec Remparts where he was a QMJHL Second Team All-Star. We are very excited to have Charles on board. He has proven himself at the Major Junior level and now is looking forward to doing the same in the AUS.

Kenton Dulle: Kenton Dulle has joined the team after committing this summer but spending time in Hamilton's AHL camp. Kenton is from the same home town as fellow rookie Mike Reich. After four years in the WHL and with back to back twenty goal seasons the Tommies are excited to have Kenton on board.
