President’s Advisory Committee to the Environment (PACE)
Some sustainability issues at STU, such as energy consumption, water use, food sources and purchasing policy require the collaboration of community members involved at all levels of the university. PACE is formed of members of faculty, facilities management as well as students and exists in order to make sound recommendations to the President on strategic sustainability improvements that respect the university’s fiscal capacity.
What’s been going on lately?
During the end of the 2007 fall semester, PACE was involved in drafting a proposal to the NB Environmental Fund for financial support to hire a sustainability coordinator. This sustainability coordinator would help coordinate an environmental audit at St. Thomas University to help monitor certain aspects of waste management, recycling, energy efficiency and purchasing.
