Paul Cormier—Board of Governors
Good day,
I am a candidate for the Board of Governors Student Representative position. I am now in my second year at St. Thomas and have been an active student leader on campus and abroad.
For the past year, I have been President of the STU Philosophy Society, President of the Catholic Student Association, and President of SHOUT Fredericton. The latter is a national student leadership organization seeking to promote ties between various community and campus organizations and clubs. In juggling these three Presidential positions, I have had to learn how to network, promote ideas, facilitate discussions, and negotiate differing points of view. As a strong believer in the student grassroots movement, I am committed to making students’ voices heard, and am aware of the responsibility I will have to make the issues surrounding university finances negotiable with the help of all parties involved.
I have been heavily involved in both my school and community, and have held student leadership positions since grade seven. These years of training have prepared me for the position of Board of Governors, and I am confident that I will represent students with honesty and vigor. Please elect me, Paul Cormier, for Board of Governors! |

Andrew Handrahan—Board of Governors
Good day (or whatever time of day it is when you read this) kind students. My name is Andrew Handrahan and I wish to be re-elected by you as a student representative on the Board of Governors. I am currently in my third year at Saint Thomas doing a History and English double Major. I come from Tignish PEI (which is a small little town, but also the best one in West Prince). You may know me on campus as one of those annoying computer lab guys who tries to install order in this computer lab (but also helps you when you need to get that paper in). I have spent two years on the Students’ Union so far as an Off-Campus Representative last year, as the Student Representative Council Chairman this past year, and also a Student Representative on the Board of Governors. I would sincerely like to be re-elected as one of your two representatives on the board because working in this capacity I was able to become more comfortable with this position, meet people, and form connections with people. In becoming more comfortable I can see the benefits of having someone there who is already familiar with the board and the people on it and I feel that I could be effective being there next year and I would be able to assist whomever else you may chose as a second representative. What I have been doing this year is attempting to speak for students. I have, I feel, alerted the board of student concerns and problems, as well as attempt in the best of my abilities to give student perspectives on all concerns of the Board of Governors of this institution. Please allow me to continue the work I have begun this year representing you at the highest levels of this institution by re-electing me, Andrew Handrahan. |

Dan Murphy—Board of Governors
Hi everyone! My name is Dan “Murph” Murphy, I am from Rexton, NB and I am a third year student here at St-Thomas University doing a double major in History and Political Science and I am running for a student position on the Board of Governors. Since my arrival here at STU I have been passionate advocate for students perspective, whether it be from Harrington Hall where I currently serve as President or from the St-Thomas campus. The Board of Governors representative is a very important role on the St-Thomas Student’s Union, and if elected I promise to work tirelessly to promote YOUR interests on the Board of Governors. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I would be much obliged if you would support me on February 26th and 27th, and even if you do not support me please take the time and vote. If you have any questions or comments I can be contacted at 457-5680 or gxlpg@stu.ca.
Thank you,
Murph |
